Great movie. Loved it.
A good movie, but pretty predictable on where it's going with it's roots.
Was this film cliche and basic? Yes. Were the characters bland and uninteresting? Absolutely. Is it predictable? No question. However, despite its obvious flaws, The Strangers manages to be genuinely effective in the scares that it delivers. It is not overly reliant on cheap jump scares or gore, but does manage to achieve extreme levels of tension and suspense. This is one of the only films in recent memory that has managed to create a sense of dread in me, and for that I give it a good rating despite its obvious flaws. It is far more competent and better-executed than the vast majority of other slasher/home invasion films.
Terrible. Extremely slow, no plot twists, just a couple that gets murdered in some secluded house. The suspense doesn’t pay off. Takes forever for the movie to begin and mostly you spend the entire movie waiting for action to happen. The characters are two dimensional and the killers have completely unexplained motives.
Scariest movie ever next to the Shining!
One of the scariest and creepy horror home invasion ever.
If you like suspense horror you'll love this
Don't believe anyone who says, "this movie is good." This movie is NOT worth your time nor money. It's not scary and doesn't have any context except that it was based off a true story. It's complete shit from start to finish. And it's so boring, you're waiting fore something to happen and nothing ever does, until everyone finally dies. The female actress is a complete idiot because she whispers and murmurs every time he speaks.
Was okay.. had some good tension build up in there at first, but by the end it was pretty boring. As I watched the protagonists make more and more stupid cliche horror mistakes, my interest in the movie went from 5 stars to 2 stars.
Even with a low body count. The Strangers still adds to the horror factor with well placed scares, and well acted scenes.
