01/12/2020 I felt inspired to walk more in my city. Learned a lot about New York history and plants. See more dave d @RT34924333 10/29/2019 Jeremy Workman's documentary "The World Before Your Feet" about a man who is walking every public street, sidewalk and path in New York City is watchable if you have any interest in a fascinating city. When walker Matt Green is talking to random people the film grinds to a halt, but when he describes landmarks, especially ones even a New Yorker may not be as familiar with the film is at its best. The compilations of things like cemeteries or 9-11 memorials work, but when Green goes a bit off the rails and gives his opinions the movie slows. It's a mixed bag, but the visuals are worth it if you like this kind of thing. Final Score: 6.1/10 See more 09/06/2019 Engaging and fascinating documentary that I liked quite a bit. There is no plot, and nothing particularly profound here. Just a guy wandering the streets of New York City, meeting people, noticing things of interest along the way, doing research about the places he is visiting. For me, the biggest revelation is the diversity of scenery to be found in the many neighborhoods of New York City. It is so much more than just tall buildings and Times Square. Matt is a likeable guy, and obviously in pretty good shape to do so much walking. But I worry that he is not eating enough fruits and vegetables. I think he needs more variety in his diet... A beautiful reminder of the diversity of the people and places in NYC - and a reminder to slow down occasionally to appreciate the small things (birdsong, community gardens, conversation w strangers).
