I Know most people think this film was awful because it isn't like the original and a Cheaper by the Dozen knockoff, but we should give it a bit of credit...

For a movie that came out just two years after Cheaper by the dozen, it really makes no effort to be anything but cliche and predictable. No Good.

In 1968, a little film called "Yours, Mine and Ours" was released, and became a surprise hit. The story of a large family is nothing new, but when it's based on a true story, then things get rather interesting. And while the film has shown its age, it is still watchable, and very entertaining, to say the least. So, in 2005, this movie was remade to appeal towards a more modern audience. And it failed. Not only does this remake fail, but it completely lacks the charm that the original offered. The 2005 remake of "Yours, Mine & Ours" fails to compare and capture what made the original good in the first place, and it's just another bad film to throw to the pile of other bad movies.

The story involves a man and a woman reuniting after a long period of time. Frank Beardsley (Dennis Quaid) meets Helen North (Rene Russo) during a high school reunion of all things, and the two rekindle their love. They eventually propose, and are happy, with one large problem coming with their marriage. Their kids; a lot of kids. Frank has a litter of eight, and Helen has ten; most of which are adopted. Frank and Helen want to become one big happy family, but the kids don't see it this way. And chaos ensues.

With the 2005 version of "Yours, Mine & Ours", we have a terrible, terrible movie. Mostly due to the fact that the story presented here has no clear focus. Yes, it mostly concerns the parents trying to bring balance, yet it seems like the kids take up the majority of the run time. Plus, the pacing presented here does not have time to slow down and take its time. Instead, there are scenes that happen so fast, you can't tell what just happened. What we have is a movie that is predictable, and very clichéd.

The acting is a jumbled mess. The performances from the kid actors are okay at best, but with the adult acting, it is very wooden and boring. This could be attributed towards the lack of humor presented here- most of which is crude humor- just fails/sucks. All of this can be attributed to the direction from Raja Gosnell, who gives the entire production a very rushed and sloppy feel. Speaking of looks, everything looks and sounds uninteresting. Sure, the original is dated, but at least there was a purpose for the setting. Here, the movie looks like your typical modern family comedy. Even the orchestrated score is overshadowed by a jukebox soundtrack that is just as generic as it sounds.

All in all, this is a bad movie no matter how one looks at it. There are no redeeming qualities found here, and if there are, they are minimal. In conclusion, the 2005 "Yours, Mine & Ours" is a bad remake of a much better film that should only be seen for curiosity's sake.

What a silly movie that I enjoyed. I don't understand why people are not about this movie.

The movie starts off by showing the lives of two families. One is a straight cut family from a Coast Guard father named Frank. He has Eight Children. There are strict rules in this house that keep the family in line. Next it shows Helen and her Ten child family. She is a single mother who has six adopted children. Her family seems to have more love involved rather than rules. Helen and Frank get married almost immediately after they meet. They used to be high school sweet hearts. There will be eighteen children and two parents living in a light house together. This step family cannot stand each other. They want nothing to do with any of them and just want to be away from each other. Frank and Helen each have two different parenting styles, this makes them butt heads constantly when it comes to disciplining children. For instance, Franks thinks it is okay to spank the children, however, Helen thinks people need to talk. The children make a plan to break apart Frank and Helen. When this plan works and the couple decide to split up, the children realize how much they actually care about each other in the end. The movie was funny at times, but it was all predictable and dry in most parts of the movie.

Yours, mine and ours was a fun and interesting movie. This movie allows for any viewer to appreciate their family and able to recognize other types of family. If your looking for a good laugh and a night in with your family this is a good movie to watch. I found this movie to be full of life lessons and hidden messages throughout the movie. This movie forces you to remember that family comes in many different shapes and sizes and that just because they are different doesn't mean their love is any less for one another.

This one is a hard act to follow. It's unclear if this remake is better or worse than the original.

Is this a good idea?

18 children watching their parents get murdered,
This is the scariest horror movie i have ever seen in my life.
This is worse than an F, It's a G: For Go Away!

What I Liked: Nothing, I just wanna shoot this movie!
What I Hated: Everything! Absolutely Everything!

It is actually one of the worst films i have ever seen, Daddy Day Camp is far worse than Yours, Mine And Hours because there were so many little kids being stupid while this movie kids can't help it.
This is a pointless comedy, I was afraid of gosnells making total garbage.
He was trying to make good movies such as beverly hills chuihaha and big mommas house, But Fails! His movies are not entertaining hilarious or memorable.
This is a tutorial of bad acting, But Raja Gosnells isn't the worst director, I've seen Worse. Friedberg and Seltzer? BLAGH!

Score: 0/10
