In the end, At Witt's End falls short of offering any new revelations about a very sad cold case. Go to Full Review

The unusually sophisticated cinematography of At Witt’s End lends something to it, even if it does raise some perhaps uncomfortable questions about the appropriateness of blending true-crime reporting with more arty flourishes. Go to Full Review
Joel Keller Decider 08/06/2024
There’s a cinematic feel to At Witt’s End: The Hunt For A Killer that, along with a good storytelling structure, makes the docuseries more compelling than similar true crime docuseries. Go to Full Review

Laurie R @LaurieRein Aug 16 This was so slow and 4 hours of the police force saying we have so much evidence to go through and all this DNA to test. One wonders what they were doing for the last 30 years since she was murdered. I found it repetitive along with an incompetent cold case force. I feel very sorry for the family and Melissa, of course but this documentary was a yawn. Ended the same as it started - nothing to see here.👎🏻 See more Philip R @PhilipRoss May 12 Despite its polished visuals, At Witt’s End is a frustrating watch. The series is bloated—four episodes that easily could’ve been condensed into two. The reporter dominates the narrative with endless commentary, yet the story moves at a crawl. To make matters worse, the music is repetitive and grating, adding to the overall monotony. As a longtime true crime fan, I found it both underwhelming and irritating. Not worth your time. See more zahara b @RT15848995 Apr 27 Heartbreaking story but the 120 seconds of sad violin music twice every episode. I've heard Melissa's story elsewhere and it was a good deep dive but also why record the detective telling that horrific grape story in detail I had to fast forward. See more Jason S @Steelej10 02/13/2025 This could have been 2 episodes but they really stretch it out with useless diary entries, slow reenactments, and repetitive information. Skip it. See more Gregory W @RT50641245 11/24/2024 The self-righteos journalist chick completely ruined this documentary. She just would never shut up and added zero useful information (except about her own feelings). She is the absolute most annoying interviewee I have ever seen. I started muting it when she came on. Ugh See more Emma M @RT74920830 08/21/2024 This show is beautifully shot, but terribly constructed. The cops keep saying the same things ad nauseum and rehashing details we just heard minutes prior. It almost feels like they're trying to remind themselves, not the audience, of the details of the case(?) We got halfway through episode 3 and just skipped to the last 10 minutes of episode 4 and missed absolutely nothing. This really should've been a single episode, but they opted for a limited series with artificially constructed cliffhangers. The story is all over the place, and the title is pretty disrespectful to the victim, to boot. See more Read all reviews
