Batwoman: Season 2 Reviews

Wow talk about absolute garbage. I don't even know where to begin. From the storytelling to the acting this is just so effing awful. I didn't think It would get worse after Ruby who I have no idea how that girl gets any gigs for anything left. But it does, not worth any time of your life. They need to cancel this garbage

It's gotta be yet to grow a full beard fanboys dissing this show. Those who can't quite accept yet strong women, lesbian women, black women. Doesn't matter that they are all every one accomplished, gorgeous--they're not Bruce Wayne, not Heath Ledger! Writing, production, action are all superb. Love the subversion and social conscience. Plots never dawdle. I'm pretty sick of superheroes, in fact, but between this and the new Watchmen, and Lovecraft Country, it's clear the old saws can still gnash some teeth.

Barley watchable so given a 2 star. This season is equally as bad a season 1. But the only way is up right?……let's see what happens on season 3.

Batwoman was first introduced in the 'Elseworlds' crossover then appeared in her solo TV spinoff which became a success for the CW network after that she partook in the biggest crossover 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' the creators of all the superhero shows rewrote the rules and blended all of them into the same universe After the death of Oliver Queen/Green Arrow the multi-verse fell and Batwoman now shares the same Earth called Earth Prime with Supergirl, Flash, the Legends of Tomorrow, and Black Lightning last season Batwoman was played by Ruby Rose being the first gay superhero on television bringing a fresh take on the comic book Arrowverse with more representation and proving she can hold her own Batman went MIA for 5 years and when Kate Kane, Bruce Wayne's cousin returned to Gotham the city was in disarray she decided to follow in her cousin's footsteps bringing back hope to the city working with Luke Fox, the son of the late Lucious Fox; she got to fight villains like Magpie, Nocturna, Hush but the biggest enemy she comes face to face is her long-lost psychotic sister, Beth aka Alice who after suffering years of abuse and neglect not being found by her father became an insane version of 'Alice' from Alice in Wonderland assembling her rabbit gang vowing to make Kate's father pay Kate's father, Commander Kane runs a police division named the Crows attempting to bring order and stability to Gotham but he strongly disapproves of Batwoman's methods, he was also married to a new woman and adopted another daughter, Mary Hamilton he and Kate's father-daughter relationship is strained since he gave up looking for Beth years ago after Batman couldn't save them both from a car crash on a bridge plus the fact that he couldn't handle Kate's lifestyle Kate's ex-girlfriend Sophie went to the same military academy, they fell in love but were both dismissed when they were outed now Sophie works for her father, but maybe it's possible Kate isn't over her and with Sophie attempting coming to terms with her identity a lot of startling things happened last season from Mary's mother dying at the hands of Alice, her partner Mouse taking on people's faces, another Beth from another Earth arriving in Gotham but ultimately losing her life robbing Kate of the sister she always wanted, Commander Kane declaring all out war on Batwoman, and to top it all off Alice killed Mouse and made Tobias Wayne look exactly like Bruce Wayne himself to intiltrate Wayne Enterprises to steal kryptonite being the only thing that can pierce through the Bat armor! Season 2 shakes things up a bit with the biggest thing being that Ruby Rose is no longer donning the cape, so now newcomer Javicia Leslie as Ryan Wilder comes into the picture Ryan's an ex-con who's been part of the foster system for so long; she can't stay in a home, nobody will hire her, and she's the definition of powerless being that no one will believe her side of things when it comes to her being surrounded by criminals She had a girlfriend named Angelique but the relationship fell apart when Ryan was adopted out of group homes and not Angelique Kate Kane's plane has gone down visiting National City and she's nowhere to be found so most likely she's dead Gotham needs a savior still and Ryan might be that beacon of hope this is actually the first time a black woman wears the Batsuit Luke and Mary Hamilton seem to be on their own and Alice formulates a new plan to take out Ryan as Batwoman Ryan has yet to prove to herself and everyone she can handle the heavy responsibility but she has all the reason to hate the Crows for her upbringing New villains come into the foray such as Victor Zsaz, Black Mask, and Enigma who's therapy tricks might be deadly Zafiyah is introduced as Queen of Coryana and she's the one who sent Penny to spy on Kate and Sophie but also the one who taught Alice to become a trained warrior, but Alice broke her trust by leaving and taking a toxin from her island Moreover, Kate might actually be alive and this man named Ocean might actually be a missing ink from Alices past, could Alice actually be looking for redemption not just for revenge against Kate? Maybe here she might have a moment of clarity Commander Kane is resilient to accept that Kate is actually Batwoman and Luke struggles battling his own fight without his father to lead him The season finale leads to a big showdown against Black Mask, his followers, his daughter, and Ryan and the others banning together to stop his overturning of Gotham Some citizens will rally behind his cause to stop Batwoman and re-structure the city History is littered with colonizers plagued by their own personal needs and filled with false ideals and pillage for their own profit, race is always a factor when it comes to law enforcement, some of us don't have the luxury of just switching off the hate, for Sophie being a part of the Crows is probably just the 1% between her and reality, when the system is broken where is the true justice?, is anarchy the only way to fix the lack of organization, checks or balances?, when it comes to power either use it or lose it Season 2 tackles drug addiction, race relations, redemption, anarchy, overthrowing government upheaval, reworking the system and establishment, and personal justice It's a huge departure from last season given that Ruby Rose isn't around anymore but gives way for newcomer Javicia Leslie to stretch her legs in the lead She dons the cape with great gravitas having a grounded motivation for taking the mantle The storylines get darker, the villains get darker, the emotions get more personal So what does this mean for season 3? The cliffhanger looks like another classic DC villain will make its appearance and Ryan might actually get a piece of her past back so the fight for Gotham is far from over Here's hoping that Batwoman can continue to soar through the skies with swift justice and courage

given everything that happened bts with covid & recasting, the writers did a phenomenal job at incorporating everything new in the most organic way possible. and ryan wilder is a terrific batwoman, she quickly became my favorite character on the show.

Batwoman's 2nd Season suffers from quite the problems when it comes to the change of the leading heroine as well as the quick end to some storylines. But thanks to Wallis Day and the introduction of Black Mask it's less of a disappointment. (4/10)

I'm actually enjoying this 2nd season. Although the "looking for Kate" narrative is being carried on about 3 episodes too many its a much more interesting story line. The development of the characters needs a little more work but other than that, it's been an enjoyable ride for a sunday night.
