CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: Season 12 (2011 - 2012)

Season 12
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation

Critics Consensus

The arrival of the compulsively watchable Ted Danson injects the CSI lab with new blood, although this procedural's scalpel has undeniably dulled over the years.

Tv Season Info

Series 12 heralds the arrival of D.B. Russell (Ted Danson) as the team's new supervisor. In the premiere, Russell must help the CSIs investigate multiple shootings on a public tram. Also joining the cast for series 12 are Elisabeth Harnois (who plays Morgan Brody, a transplant from the Los Angeles CSI Unit), and Elisabeth Shue (Julie "Finn" Finlay), who replaces Catherine Willows when actress Marg Helgenberger departs the show mid series. Twelve also contains several unique story lines including: a house being stolen off of its foundation, a hijacked medevac helicopter with a CSI team member on board and a car accident that yields three victims and a disembodied brain that doesn't belong to any of them.

It was nice to see a couple familiar faces, especially when you enjoy their work.

Dec 8, 2011 | Rating: 4.5/5 | Full Review…

All in all, I thought "73 Seconds" was a very good introduction for Danson/Russell.

Sep 21, 2011 | Full Review…

That's the real problem - not that CSI has exhausted all possible causes of death proffered by the modern world; rather that, leechlike, they have sucked all the blood out of sentient humanity.

In general, CSI has become a richer series.

May 9, 2012 | Full Review…

With an ironclad formula and a large, veteran ensemble, CSI can ride out changes better than most shows.

Within the bounds of the material, Danson is doing fun, off-the-wall work.

Sep 21, 2011 | Full Review…

Watching Ted Danson bring his passive-aggressive brand of office politics to the show is giving you something fresh to watch while waiting to see what Santa's left for you in the next body bag.

Then there's the sheer pleasure of watching an actor at the peak of his craft, which should bring, and keep, at least a few new viewers.
