What to Know

Critics Consensus

Frothy and a tad bit frivolous, Everything I Know About Love is less about lessons learned than the joy of the journey -- and it's an absolute blast in the bargain.

A classic coming-of-age-in-the-big-smoke-story, with a surplus of heart and wit. Go to Full Review

Will your enjoyment of the show be directly proportional to your tolerance for the main duo’s implicit Private School Energy? Probably, although Amara and Nell’s storylines do provide some counterbalance as the series goes on. Go to Full Review

I can’t believe I still have the capacity to be charmed by a show about young women seeking love and success in a big, glamorous city, but here we are. Go to Full Review

This series has a plot that is seemingly all about romance, but under the surface, friendship and community are at its heart. Go to Full Review

It’s easy to be cynical about Everything I Know About Love, but it’s far easier to give in to its sweet hopefulness and its reassurance that, actually, no-one knows anything about love. Go to Full Review

John O @ThreeRivers 03/31/2025 Spoilers: I watched Emma Appleton in Traitors and The Killing Kind and was mesmerized, to the extent that I looked her up just to see what else I could watch with her in. And I found this, and when it turned out it also had Bel Powley, who has been good in everything, I jumped on it. Whatever IT is, Emma has it. And Marli Sui was good in this, too. This was some version of Sex and the City, it seems, the Brit girls, in a thoroughly girly bit. A festival of how they feel, wo wo wo, feelings, which got tedious, but in a way, it was nice to hear the real, the intimate, which they shared so often, though, only some if it was so real, as the card game showed there had been realities kept beneath the surface that burst out at once. Any movie or tv series is as good as the writing but the challenge for any good actor is to bring to life the character and despite seemingly an ample dollop of fill, I do see Emma, Bel and Marli working these roles to their max. None of these women are going to cure cancer nor end hunger, and their hedonistic tendencies, drinking and dancing are seemingly aimed at filling hours they can't figure out how to fill better. Not an attractive group overall. The writing again, some the writer's real stuff, some not. So the acting gets high marks and not so much the story. Liked the music. There was a very sweet feeling of a community of four among these women, who almost always were sensitive and considerate of one another, an easy sisterhood, always willing to hear the others out, to the extent that they genuinely said I love you to the others all the time. Can't imagine such a thing among four straight men. See more 07/16/2022 Dolly Alderton's tv-adapted memoir is loaded with fun and exaggerations. It serves as hyperbole for living in London in your early 20s. Its sprinkle of diversity is good but lacking. While the episodes are a tad too long, they are enjoyable, especially for the young woman navigating the world of work, love, and life. It's the kind of thing you'd watch with a glass of wine snuggled in your blankets on a rainy day. See more Read all reviews
