Borgman shows how [The Biggest Loser program] – like so many in the genre – skilfully blurred the conventional boundaries between fact and fiction, and drama and documentary. Go to Full Review

The result is a compelling if not overly deep expose on a series that has run its course, thankfully for the health and well being of all. Go to Full Review

Like the show it criticizes, it is an exercise in rubbernecking, capitalizing on the contestants’ anguish and suffering instead of offering healthy media analysis in hindsight as medicine. Go to Full Review

Under the sensitive and balanced direction of Skye Borgman we see how problematic this reality series was. The supposedly life-changing journeys of people only had short-term effects and the lack of concern for the contestants is troubling. Go to Full Review

The thing that irked me the most about watching this documentary, though, is how much of the original show we had to sit through for the sake of sensationalization. I personally found it very hard to watch the bits from “The Biggest Loser.” Go to Full Review

What I saw in the show was a reckoning, not just for the most awful people involved—Jillian Michaels, Bob Harper, David Broome and E.P. David Roth, to name a few—but for a society that has decided that fat people deserve whatever they get for being fat. Go to Full Review

Farah R @Farah Oct 2 It got the story across but doesn’t get deep enough to really justify its existence. It was just reiterating what the headlines said years ago. See more Joe G @Review_Joe Sep 3 A brief docu series on Biggest Loser. Felt as if they were just scratching the surface as the series came to an end. I think there is more to the story than what was told. See more Sergio A @Sergio83 Sep 1 It’s unsettling for those of us who once found The Biggest Loser entertaining. It’s quite engaging for a series and exposes things we already suspected: abusive trainers and questionable methods. Still, I feel it lacks depth when exploring certain topics and the participants’ perspectives. See more Paige H Sep 1 Having Aubrey Gordon as any type of authority on this show was a complete joke. Enjoyed the docuseries, and I think it allowed for great conversations after watching- but I do question the legitimacy or the motivation of making this documentary with such an outspoken fat activist as the only outside perspective beyond the makers and contestants of the show See more Ben B Aug 30 Nope. It's literally fat people moaning about how they treated on a reality show about fat people. See more Nancy K. @luvdogs27 Aug 24 I watched the Biggest Loser for years because I thought it was inspiring and told stories of how people became obese and their desire to be healthier. I was sympathetic to the contestant’s struggles and by watching their success at losing weight I was motivated to exercise and eat better. However, I found Jillian to be overly cruel and she seemed to focus more on winning the weight-ins than about the contestant’s health. I preferred Bob’s style of training and felt he had more compassion but he also pushed people too far at times. The fact that so many contestants gain the weight back is an unfortunate reality because of the extreme approach to weight loss. I did find the show entertaining but looking at it now, I realize it was not the best message about losing weight. Also, the fact that Jillian Michaels didn’t contact Bob after his heart attack and chose not to speak on the documentary confirms my feeling that she’s not a nice person. See more Read all reviews
