In the Cambridgeshire village of Grantchester in the 1950s, gruff, down-to-earth police inspector Geordie Keating's methodical approach to police work complements the intuitive techniques of local vicar Sidney Chambers, and later the Rev. Will Davenport. Geordie forms an unlikely partnership with both men of the cloth, and as partners they bring different insights into the crimes they start to unravel, forming true friendships as they work together. Village life in Grantchester proves to be much livelier than its sleepy appearance might suggest, with intrigue and gossip swirling in the background of Geordie's investigations.

Still as gentle as a summer shower, even if there is a brutal murder to solve. Go to Full Review

It's a way-interesting, but not necessarily successful defilement of the solemn protocol. Recommended viewing, though, as a strange little skirmish with contemporary reality. Go to Full Review

Brittney and Green's brief exchanges, meanwhile, were sufficiently promising that the parishioners of Grantchester shouldn't rest too easy - killers are likely to plague this sleepy corner of Cambridgeshire for a few series yet. Go to Full Review

Complaints aside, credit where it is due....the show is back to backgammon and pints between its leading men. Bring on Season 5. Go to Full Review

The good news is that Norton's still there for part of Season 4, and his coming departure is good for fiddling heartstrings. Go to Full Review

Beks C @beks22 Mar 8 I was absolutely heartbroken by Sidney's departure. However, I did think his final two-part episode was well-written and of course beautifully acted by all involved. I missed him for the rest of the season but I still love the show. Great performances all the way around and Tom Brittney is really good as the new vicar, Will Davenport. See more Read all reviews
