What to Know

Critics Consensus

Harlan Coben's Lazarus delivers emotional performances and a suitably spooky mood, but its clunky dialogue and increasingly preposterous plotting turn it into a fundamentally underwhelming slog.

Good lord, it’s terrible. Hilariously so. Go to Full Review

With Sam Claflin as clinical psychiatrist Joel Lazarus, and Bill Nighy as his father and fellow professional Jonathan, this spectral thriller suffers from obvious dialogue and a ludicrous plot. The actors give their all, and frankly it’s not enough. Go to Full Review

Lazarus is marred by overwrought performances, a sluggish pace, and implausible plotlines. Go to Full Review

The supernatural aspect of Harlan Coben’s Lazarus makes the series a bit different than most Coben mysteries. But at its heart it’s still a solid Coben murder mystery, with undertones about family history and relationships. Go to Full Review

Lazarus is completely bonkers, but it launches into the plot so fast, you won’t have time at first to question the premise. Go to Full Review

Mike J. @cosmique Jan 2 Lazarus the character is prime candidate for involuntary commitment to psychiatric facility. His actions are so bizarre that the story is tainted. Great cast See more Matrix 1 @Mathijsh Dec 29 This is one of the best series of 2025. It's not for everyone, but once you get into this groove, it's definitely worth whatching. Sam Claflin’s acting is sublime and will get on your nerves. The bizarre plot twists, embedded in beautiful cinematography, will keep you on the edge of your seat. Nothing is predictable here. If you enjoy dark thrillers with a supernatural touch, watch it! See more Avindu G Dec 7 There's nothing much hidden in this drama other than what's unknown to the audience. It's a rebellious story when turning towards the obvious suspects. Also it uses the visual symbolism when it projecting the office building of Lazarus Sr. from the road outside, little things such as this makes this story mysteriously immersive. But ultimately we all fund out it's about the fundamental truth in all of our lives when it comes to the past we choose to keep buried and the past we choose to cherish upon. And when the first out of the two comes seeping through the crack, we got to deal with bad and ugly. And that's exactly the hand Joel gets served with in this story. See more Robin H Dec 2 Can someone switch a light on? See more Frans B @FransB Nov 16 Not easy to watch because of uncertain and vague writing. Such talent in Sam Claflin, Bill Nighy and Alexandra Roach underutilized here. Cinematography is good and that's about it. Plot holes, melodrama and just daft assumptions makes it of a lesser quality. See more Michael D Nov 16 So much stupid. Then the last episode is terrible. See more Read all reviews
