Creator Emer Kenny, who plays Karen’s friend and colleague Dr River Wilde, has crafted a genuine cold case mystery, complete with flashbacks to the 1980s and a deeper sense of the detective’s prickly perseverance. Go to Full Review

... It gets better with a decent conclusion and a few twists that you might guess along the way (I guessed one). Go to Full Review

It’s good. The series is more intense than cozy, but never veers into gratuitous violence. It’s thoughtful in its exploration of themes, but the cases themselves are also genuinely gripping. Go to Full Review

David W. @deedublu1350 Jan 20 Well written , beautifully acted, great cast. Highly recommended See more Tom W @TexOracle Jan 2 Season 2 much better. The writing didn’t blunder or reveal itself early on, and rather kept me on my toes as it credibly allowed the investigatory process to lead the story progression. Quite involved and engaging. Still a bit put off by the unlikely woke casting, sure would be interested in seeing how UK investigators really are in a behind the scenes story, not buying the young pudgy inexperienced females leading big cases (successfully, anyway). Bit of grain in the shoe while watching the story, generally enjoying. Still, even so, not 5 star like Wallenders whether both excellent Brit or Swedish versions, or Swedish Dragon Tattoo films. Do hope to see a season 3. Would tune in. See more Andrei D @RT74856639 Dec 22 The final episode moves and feels a little rushed but otherwise this is solid Scottish police action See more Jim S @RT33731494 Nov 19 Lauren Lyle is so terrific in Season 2 (as she was in Season 1). She is such a dynamic and expressive actor and watching her reactions and actions is riveting. The rest of the cast supports her and the story well. I thought the writing was good, and the direction was well done and kept the story moving along. The cinematography was good, capturing the scenery in Scotland and Malta magnificently. Season 3 soon! Please. I watch a lot of British crime series and this was among the best. I hope Lyle gets awards for her acting in this series; she certainly has earned them! See more Chas M @RT56346713 Oct 17 Well written & acted, with some solid twists & turns. Karen Pirie Season 2 is nice, highly enjoyable addition to the British crime show genre. See more Molly A. @holymoly Oct 16 Season 2 ending was (almost) as I predicted from the beginning but for some reason it didn’t bother me. Watching it play out onscreen was intriguing. Loved the balance between flashbacks and real time storytelling. Overall, Season 2 was much more polished. Eagerly awaiting a 3rd! See more Read all reviews
