The one star is for the costumes and beautiful photographic work. For a lover of the original books, and the woman herself, this entire production is a travesty. The lack of care given to the sprit, and detail, of the books is sad -why call it "Little House on the Prairie"at all? As this dramatization bears so little resemblance to the books, just call it something else…it might do better that way. It is yet another Netflix cookie-cutter rollout, when it could have been so very much more. Every character looks wrong, and acts wrongly. "Laura" is so far from physical or behavioral type, it would be laughable if it wasn’t so sad. Ma and Pa equally so…and let’s not even touch on Mary, or Jack, the brindled bulldog (a collie? Nope). Interesting in that it's way more historical than the TV series. It shows the family and their struggles to build a new life in the new settlement. However it soon becomes irritating to watch with it's enforced Netflix ideology. This is a great series for kids to watch, but I would suggest a quick lesson on post Civil war America and the true reality for African Americans.
