Critic Reviews for Norsemen Season 1

Entertainment that's not rooted in some sense of reality just doesn't hold my attention, but I'm happy to travel to 8th century Norway if the characters will debate the fashion sensibilities of horned helmets.

If you are left uncharmed by Norsemen you are both heartless and immune to their heartily irreverent approach to situation comedy. Lighten up and let the men in plaits beguile you into stupid, helpless giggles.

Violent, raunchy Viking comedy is a hilarious sendup of GOT.

... disarmingly, gut-bustlingly funny.

Audience Reviews for Norsemen: Season 1

Maybe a 6/10? Saw this a while ago, and I'm not sure. It wasn't very good, and it might be deserving of a far lower rating. I found it to be boring and tedious at times. A lot of the humor was driven by how stupid the characters were. However, the characters were so stupid, the problems that they encountered seemed rather uninteresting from a "plot perspective".

Just finished season 1. This is exactly what I needed....the best laugh ever, to get through covid, politics, wild fires. It is GENIUS! AMAZINGLY WITTY! So glad I found this after I watched 6 seasons of Vikings. I haven't laughed out loud in a very long time. Thank you for making this series. We will do small watch parties of 3 people wearing masks and sitting far apart on the patio drinking for season 2 and 3.

This feels like a documentary. If Martin Freeman had played Blackadder then that would have been a documentary. Martin Freeman speaks the words. Rowan Atkinson delivers the words. Too many Martin Freemans for me.

NORSEMEN is all the best parts of "Community" and "The Office" for vikings.

One of the most vapid, stupid, riding the boot straps of History's Vikings (among others) empty show. This show is the perfect example of true laziness from the writers and simply trying to hi-jack the mainstream. It is truly disappointing that any Norwegian would sign on as a director, let alone play a part in this facade. If I could rank this lower than zero, I would happily do so. Relying on common stereotypes, a complete lack of authenticity, as if that wasn't enough, do not waste your time on this complete pile of sh**. To the writers and directors - Shame, and quite frankly you are part of the worst I've seen - mind you I write daily to ensure that individuals, their companies, and beyond that to ensure that their rights are honored in court. I would take a long look, in your shoes, to actually ask what you are contributing, if anything, given the current state of our world. L Postscript - Zero out of zero is not enough - this is pure trash.

If Chappelle's show did a skit as Monty Python making a skit about Vikings while Spinal Tap's greatest hits played in the background to an audience made up of the guys from The Young Ones and The Kids In The Hall, this would be it. Equal parts raunchy, smart, brave, dry, satirical, witty and hilarious with a dash of over the top mixed with a few spoonfuls of hygiene humor, it rarely gets better than Norseman. It may be underrated, and not as splashy or as well publicized and advertised as some other Netflix comedies (OITNB comes to mind), but it is far superior, and far funnier, than almost any of them. And it's not just the boys that get in on the Viking pillaging and raiding-watch our for Froya, you all. She is a badass, strong female Viking (and striking) warrior that could best just about any man. And still have the best hair while doing it. This show is not for everyone. Uptight people, comedy highbrows, and stuffy snobs need not apply. Fans of British humor, including Benny Hill and the Python, you cannot go wrong with this totally original, fresh comedy take on the Vikings of old. Anyone who enjoys R rated comedy, start your binge. Anyone who enjoys satirical, dry British style humor watch right away. Anyone who loves a good hard laugh and has a particular sense of humor that appreciates wit as much as a good fart joke, CHECK OUT THIS SHOW. You will not be sorry.

It's Monty Python version of Vikings. The dialogues and situations are really funny, mixing the raw lifestyle of the viking age with thoughts and debates from our modern days (human/women's right, sexual harassment, arts, etc). Great entertainment.

I have recommended Norseman to all of my friends. It is so much fun. The violence is evened out with the comedy of their frank discussions on social issues. The wait for season two, then season 3 was hard to bear since we wanted so much more right away.

    Disgusting, brutal, boring and unfunny.
