Although some subplots get lost or drag on longer than necessary, 'Old Dog, New Tricks' maintains a balance between humor, emotion, and criticism. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

There are a few genuinely funny moments in Old Dog, New Tricks, thanks to Luis Zahera’s patented ability to play a lovable grump. Go to Full Review

[The series] shows that if civilization was built on the idea of dominating the wild, that attempt at control ends up robbing us of what is essential: the ability to coexist without needing to domesticate each other. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Alexandra R @Ravendixie Feb 13 Super funny. Loved their sense of humor. Highly recommend a! Can’t wait for the second season See more M P @Mikheilable Dec 3 Not something I would usually go for as I am more of a horror/thriller/sci-fi but I causally saw this on Netflix and decided to give it a watch. I was honestly hooked from the first episode - the main actor plays a great crusty older man, and the humor is exactly what I like. Very out in the open and dry with little trying. I watched the entire series in one day and am really REALLY hoping for another season! There are some loose ends that were lost and will hopefully be wrapped up or addressed but they were not major to the plot. Such a great watch, thank you for making this sick day entertaining! Made me laugh(a lot!) and also shares with us some very wholesome moments. And also Antón has a good character arc throughout the season. (ENGLISH) "Old Dog, New Tricks" is one of those shows that, without making much noise, manages to make you smile. It doesn’t try to reinvent anything, but it knows how to find charm in the everyday. Luis Zahera is splendid as a grumpy veterinarian with a good heart, balancing tenderness and Galician wit in a way only he can. His chemistry with Lucía Caraballo carries much of the story, even if the script doesn’t always match the strength of their performances. The series blends slice-of-life storytelling with humor to mixed results. At times it nails natural and funny situations, but in others it leans too heavily on clichés or stretches scenes that don’t quite need it. The depiction of Galicia is lovely, with beautiful landscapes and polished cinematography, though there’s an outsider’s gaze that simplifies more than it captures. It’s not a laugh-out-loud comedy, but one you enjoy for the warmth of its characters. The pacing works, it’s easy to watch, and it shines most when focusing on everyday relationships rather than trying to deliver big messages. Lucía Caraballo does a solid job, though her accent might distract some viewers, and the rest of the cast provides strong support. There’s tenderness, gentle humor, and a friendly tone that make Animal genuinely likable despite its ups and downs. In short, a simple but effective series — the kind you watch with a smile and without expectations. It won’t go down in history, but it leaves a pleasant aftertaste and proves that Zahera can turn any character into someone believable and endearing. Nota: 8 See more BONITA L @bonitamay Nov 6 Very relatable. The lead actor is both talented and skilled. The character feels genuine and the message is a much needed one. The writers have crafted a script that delivers profound insight. At once brilliant and clever, it is also simple and honest. Evokes a range of emotion from deep frustration to compassion and grace. They nailed it. See more Read all reviews
