Will W 05/03/2024 A good follow up to its previous season. See more 12/17/2020 Overlord Season 2 continues the tale of the self proclaimed King of the Undead Ainz Owl Goon, and his hero personality, Momon of Darkness. The season ties in with the first one nicely, and focusses more on the setting than the characters of the tomb of Nazarick. Additionally, a big sideplot is introduced, that takes up about a quarter of the season, which deals with the development of a conflict between the Nazarick army and an alliance of lizard people. Although this sideplot is not boring, it tends to drag on a bit, especially since we are used to a much higher level of power from the first season. Besides this, the plot is as entertaining as the first one, and we learn a lot more about the new world we find ourselves in. Likewise, the new world learns a lot more about the protagonist, or rather his made up hero personality, which is a nice process and goes along with some character development. Sadly, the season lacks a real finale and the fights are a bit less impressive, in particular when compared to the preceding season. All in all, the season does not disappoint and is a worthy follow-up to the introduction of Overlord. The Lizard people side plot may drag a little, and some fans of fighting may be left a bit unsatisfied, but the general quality is similar to the first season. I would recommend to watch the first season before this one, and if you enjoyed it, you will like this one too.
