John Anderson Wall Street Journal 06/14/2024
Professor T himself doesn’t quite capture our affections the way some of the more endearing crime-solvers on public television have, through their weaknesses and idiosyncrasies. Go to Full Review

But Professor T is so tonally odd it rarely comes close to being convincing. Go to Full Review

The junior police detectives who require the Prof’s help are another weakness of this show, so bland as to be instantly forgettable. Go to Full Review

Carol L Aug 23 Sumptuous cinematography, sets, and lighting that - along with the music and acting - is worth watching even without the plots. In its honeyed, elegant light and moody interiors, Ben Stiller conveys his emotionally repressed character with a minimalist touch. Professor T’s not an easy or charming character, but stands out as more nuanced and complex, like Johnny Lee Miller’s Sherlock Holmes in Elementary. Professor T suffers from OCD, and it’s an interior portrait of what trauma does to memory, emotion, relationships, and functioning. Despite his anxiety, obsessions, and intrusive thoughts, Professor T shows courage, grit, and genius in unraveling mysteries where there’s more than meets the eye, including the mysteries at the center of his own family. See more Arya S @AnyaS 02/10/2025 Excellent series with high production values in cinematography, acting, scripts, music, setting, etc. While the idea of an OCD detective (neurodivergent) is not unique (Monk), Professor T and the other characters develop and become more complex with each episode, so that their stories become as intriguing as the crime-of-the-episode. See more Rachael's E 11/17/2024 This is what PBS is all about, excellence! I love this show. I have watched all three seasons. They are incredible. Ben Miller is riveting as the genius professor Tempest. The production of this show is flawless in every regard and category. See more Rudy A 07/23/2024 Intriguing, humorous and moving crime series with an excellent cast and soundtrack. While it has the feel of the best Agatha Christie adaptations, there's a serious storyline doing more than just connecting the episodes. Stars Ben Miller, Frances De La Tour and Sarah Woodward have the scene-stealing roles of three British eccentrics - a genius criminologist with OCD, his mother and his secretary. Season Three does wrap things up satisfactorily, but it also leaves an opening for a 4th. One hopes. See more Alistair R 04/22/2024 Slightly tongue in cheek, but superb acting by Ben Miller (look for the facial micro expressions) and the rest of the cast. Perfectly served on a bed of brilliant music and a soundtrack by Hannes de Maeyer. Reminded me a little of the heady days of Morse in the 80s. Well worth a watch.
