paul I @RT64952955 Jun 27 Excellent series and I really can't understand people who give it a bad review because it's not as good as the film. It's a prequel for starters so really has nothing to do with the film apart from the characters obviously. It's a stand alone tv series. It's absurd to compare it to the movie unless it was a remake of the movie but its a tv show and a prequel to boot. I think you're just a bit stupid if you compare it to the movie. Its not a remake. I'm very disappointed there isn't going to be a 2nd series. A lot better than the majority of tv shows that get 2,3,4 seasons. Does it borrow too much - guilty as well, and you can see it trying to live up to the script and outstanding performances of the original and suffering as a result. However, I still think it's worth a watch if you approach with an open mind. It's entertaining on its own merits, and like a lot of gangster series, takes most of season one for the writers and actors to get comfortable in its own skin, flesh out the characters and have a bit of fun with the concept - a bit like Love/Hate or Peaky Blinders. Given the critical reaction, it probably won't get a second season which is a pity. Using the origin of Don & Gal from the movie as a starting point it fleshes out interesting parts of the file: why is Don psychotic, how did Gal fall for Deedee and the history of Teddy Bass.
