I find it wholly amazing that some audience reviewers are struggling with clear British accents, yet are quite happy to accept faux Soviet accents, with each sentence ending in "comrade", in " For All Mankind"..I loved FAM as well, though by the end of 4 I was finding it a little too much, to the point where I haven’t started S5 yet. Each show brings something different, excess positivity in FAM, bleak Soviet negativity in SC. Hollywood versus Europe. The acting in SC is so much better than FAM, the accents are an irrelevance. I note one audience reviewer actually thinks the cast of SC are American, so clearly some people are not best positioned for critical thinking. If you want Brits pretending to be Kruschev, it’s not for you. I’m not sure you gain from an accent when the individual isn’t actually speaking the language. Surely it’s no different from selecting American/Brit dubbing on the language options? Great series, acting and atmosphere. See more Sapphire T @RT31286657 2d BORING! I started to doze off halfway through the 1st episode. I realize it's supposed to be dreary and drab, because it's the USSR, but this was a total snoozer for me. While For All Mankind (FAM) has been GREAT - especially seasons 1-3, this spin-off won't keep your attention. And who knew that so many 'Russians' have mysterious British accents. I hear some people griping about the choice to use "non fake-Russian" accents, and to that I would say, I’d much rather have spoken dialogue that doesn’t sound cheesy or forced. What a complete sell out here. Characters that we already know from FAM shown in younger years SPEAKING WITH BRITISH ACCENTS?!?!? GTFOOH. This show doesn't deserve any more dissection. I will say it's an interesting choice to have Brits play Russians when there are plenty of Russian actors & actresses.... but in a world where there are more rappers than Greeks in The Odyssey, I guess we have to live with it. See more Zahid T @Zahid2025 6d Just started watching. What's with the cast with British regional accents. Especially the actor who portrays Valya has a Liverpool accent. Very distracting.
