See more Abs B @Abs_B Sep 11, 2026 Much better than season 1. You can feel that its coming together this season whilst in season 1 they were findig their feet. It is very reminiscent of the original star trek series and next generation with bizarre happenings to the ship, but each episode you only see some of the crew. The singing episode was ridiculous but those that love a musical will love it. Ending on a cliff hanger was frustrating but clever. A brilliantly executed joyride. I didn't have that much fun with Star Trek since my last complete rewatch of STNG. Season 2 is the perfect blend of Scifi, mystery, romance and fun. As before it is still episodic but there's an underlying common thread and lots of character development. They even manage to mix serious topics with lots of fun. The episode when Spock is about to marry and becomes fully human, caused by an accident, is magnificent. And then there's "Subspace Rhapsody", the franchise's first musical episode. Normally I skip such episodes because I find them too silly or awkward. But this time was completely different. Not only did I watch the whole thing...I loved it. And had a good laugh more than once. I don't understand why some Trekkies don't like this series. It's Star Trek through and through. Yes, it's not STNG...but it's a great homage to the original 1960s series. It excels when it focuses on the core chemistry of the Enterprise crew, delivering high-stakes sci-fi and genuine character growth. However, the musical episode felt out of place and broke the immersion that the series usually builds so well. Additionally, there were moments where the writing felt a bit heavy-handed with its social messaging, that occasionally overshadowed the narrative.
