I hope another season is on its way!! See more pqr1951 @RT51258519 09/25/2022 This is an awesome contemporary fantasy series from South Africa. As far as acting, location, special effects, and directing are concerned, the filmmakers brought their "A" game to the production. An outstanding feature of this movie is its honesty, its authenticity. I watched it in its original Zulu language with subtitles, but the characters sometimes delivered their lines in English, depending on the situation. The story revolved around a young woman who learned that she is the embodiment of an extremely powerful protector of the land, and its people and in particular, a supernatural "tree of life" that exists in a symbiotic dimension with our world, the earthly plane of existence. There is major conflict with some developers who want to build a casino, but to do so, they want to evict everyone in the village of Illanga, the home of the main character. There are political activists, corrupt politicians, gangsters, murder, blasts of supernatural energy, manipulative power-hungry shamans, romantic relationships, and plenty of action and drama that certainly kept my attention. The somewhat frustrating last available episode "semi-concluded" the story. I hope NettyFlickises adds a few more episodes in order to actually finish it. See more Read all reviews
