Nick Schager The Daily Beast 05/29/2023
By the time it reaches its off-the-wall, exploitation-drenched conclusion, The Curious Case of Natalia Grace has transformed from an examination of Natalia’s true nature into a series about Michael and Kristine’s villainy. Go to Full Review

The story's twists and turns are the main reasons to watch, although there's a noticeable void because Natalia Grace is not interviewed, due to her gag order at the time. The mystery of who's telling the truth will either intrigue or frustrate viewers. Go to Full Review

This unbalanced portrayal may leave viewers with more questions than answers, creating a narrative that's as compelling as it is incomplete. Go to Full Review

Christina K @Christina917 Dec 22 OK - I feel like all the negative reviews are because of the attempt at neutral journalism (kind of needed for a tiny bit of suspense), and the HORRIFICALLY flamboyant overacting by Michael - a hell-bound child-abuser. I am glad this story has come to light. This child's neighbors, who looked at an 8-year-old and said "she's an adult" and that she was "creepy" are hell-bound too... That not ONE of them recognized a hungry, lonely child's cries for help is abominable. Natalia deserves apologies. This is a story that needs to be watched to understand our flawed legal system and the way that people can be so easily led astray by a bold lie that made absolutely no sense. See more Zxya K @RT57664953 Sep 11 On one hand I'm grateful her story is being told but on the other, this show is trash in the sense that they capitalized on the suffering of a disabled child and now young adult who has been victimized and revictimized over and over and over. They take every opportunity to somehow, against all reason, place the blame on Natalia–the victim. I have never felt so drained by one series ever before. I cannot fathom that not a singular person in Natalia's life is trauma informed and the amount of times they've tried to spin the narrative like "she's the problem" "she's creepy" "we don't know what's real" is appalling. We do know what's real–she isn't crazy and she needs to not be blamed as a victim for her behaviours which have all been shaped by horrible events from infancy. They couldn't figure out the tone, whether they want to make a spectacle of her or tell her story. Because of that, this production has in turn revictimized Natalia in perhaps the most insidious way. I cannot believe how few normal people there are in the states and how this show has changed my brain chemistry towards how this world views survivors and disabled people. Natalia was literally the only normal person on the whole series and I feel insane watching these interviews. Even the DePauls couldn't be normal even while being one of the better families. How can it be that so much of this world has no idea of how to be around young adults with severe intense prolonged trauma when so many of us all live with trauma?! The whole series feels like it struggles the entire time to understand basic elementary human psychology and gives way too much time to the liars and abusers to sow uncertainty at the expense of a survivor who needs not to be exploited for ONCE. This was handled so poorly. So, so poorly. I need her to know she's not the "crazy" one. Her behaviours, actions, reactions and emotions are all NORMAL given her circumstances. How this world reacts to her IS NOT. See more dave d @RT34924333 Jul 27 No winners in this train wreck that would make Jerry Springer blush. See more Holly @Hollydalziel May 3 That dad is insane! What a lying horrid man clearly in the closet .. he’s a total abuser and he needs to be in jail! See more James S @RT80127549 Apr 14 As a social path. It's so easy for me to pick out others of my kind Michael is a social path. His poor acting, his nonchalant way of admitting his part without taking blame, his fake love for his son. FYI.. please get his son away from him See more Gesele M @Gesele Apr 6 I watched the recent series on hulu first, then found the documentary. Very obvious that the father is a weak, lying pathetic specimen of a man. The way he performs for the camera to throw 100 percent of the blame to his ex wife is ridiculous. So this grown ass man was given orders by his wife, after catching a domestic violence case for beating her up mind you, and then blindly followed whatever she said?? See more Read all reviews
