Pretty people and costumes. Not sure it deserves 2 stars. See more C C @FairandHonest May 4, 2026 Wow. As they say 'Give me something for the cringe and let me die.' This makes the 2002 version seem like Shakespeare. It's so corny and melodramatic that it feels like a parody. The writing is what I'd imagine you'd get if a 12 year old had read the books and then dictated the screenplay. And how can I say this nicely? See more dawna H @RT39886406 Apr 20, 2026 This is no Downton Abbey. The acting is beyond bad. The pacing of dialogue between characters is hard to watch. The writing is dreadful. It's like watching Dynasty in Victorian times, but not as good. So disappointed. Oh, and lastly, the actor who plays the stepdaughter is by far the worst actor to have ever acted in a Masterpiece Theatre production. She is beyond annoying to watch. Way too many ‘Jolyon staring into space’ shots, they’ve made him too moody with no real personality except ennui. And why is he the only one never wearing a tie at work? Wish it was better.
