Blending procedural drama with well-engineered action, and lots of it, The Gringo Hunters provides an absorbing look into cross-border law enforcement. Go to Full Review

Unlike the numerous crime dramas that show U.S. authorities heroically pursuing criminals in Mexico, this Netflix show inverts the narrative, showing the effectiveness of Mexican authorities as they neutralize threats from the States in their territory. Go to Full Review

Co-produced by Brian Grazer and Ron Howard, the entertaining crime series challenges what has become a conventional U.S. narrative about cross-border crime between the U.S. and México. Go to Full Review

The Gringo Hunters is a fine show. Despite rarely managing to shine, it never crashes and burns either. Each episode clips along, making them pass by fairly smoothly, despite the pace making most of the side content feel like narrative vapor. Go to Full Review

the USA (...) has spent an insane amount of resources to spread the notion that Mexicans are the root of all evil. Now, the Mexicans, with the aid of a very real story, are highlighting the kind of things White Americans do after entering their country. Go to Full Review

Rob V Aug 12 The series portrays a real phenomenon that remains little known: the flight of many American fugitives into Mexico in their attempt to escape justice in the United States and disappear south of the border. Based on real events, it offers a vivid look at the daily life of an elite state police unit operating in Tijuana, revealing the many challenges they face — including corruption within local law enforcement. The characters are engaging and, in some cases, colorful, with interactions that feel realistic, entertaining, and intriguing. The series blends realism, drama, and humor in a way that, in my opinion, works seamlessly. Each episode’s storyline draws the audience in and keeps them increasingly invested. The acting is strong and convincing, the settings are varied and visually appealing, and the overall production quality is excellent. This show tells the true story of corrupted whites who run away from the law to Mexico. Very engaging, funny but serious at the same time, great characters, fast pace, great cadence. AND BTW, THE CAST DESCRIBED HERE IS ONLY THE WHITE CAST. ROTTEN TOMATOES, don't limit our knowledge of the whole cast! It's a great cast. See more Elle K Jul 17 The series does an excellent job in producing a series which captures the essence of culture as it is known in border cities. This Ron Howard production highlights the dangers that an elite police unit experiences as they track and capture foreign criminals. “The Gringo Hunters work in plain clothes, drive unmarked vehicles, and rely on intelligence from U.S. agencies such as the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security, and the U.S. Marshals. They are trained in both Mexican and U.S. legal systems and focus exclusively on high-impact cases. Part of their training includes observing people who stand out in Mexican communities—an essential skill when tracking suspects who often try to blend in. For example, fugitives often wear more shorts and flip-flops than locals and speak little Spanish. Officers also watch for erratic behavior and physical characteristics such as tattoos or scars documented in U.S. criminal databases.” Time See more Edward L @Glyndower Jul 16 A great addition to the genre, especially as it sticks it to the Orange Man's characterisation of Mexicans. The characters are a little stereotyped: the separated policeman with the rebellious daughter (who also serves as the obligatory lesbian); the divorced female agent looking for love and I suspect that the Chief will prove to be the corrupt focus. My main complaint is that the music is annoying. See more Marty F @Martyf Jul 15 Not too Good, Most of the Fugitive chasing seemed to be really choreographed and staged. Not very realistic at all. I was really looking forward to this series from the promos, I have been extremely disappointed. If this series was supposed to be about something true it’s not very believable. The main female character is a really good actress but I don’t think she was given a lot to work with here. Just wasn’t entertained much by The Gringo Hunters! See more Read all reviews
