Earth has its first encounter with an extraterrestrial race. Calling themselves the Visitors and promoting peace, they seem to be friendly, but their congeniality may be a cover for a malevolent agenda. Erica (Elizabeth Mitchell), an FBI agent, discovers a secret about the aliens that threatens the lives of Earthlings, including her teenage son, who sees them as a sign of hope. Meanwhile, Father Jack (Joel Gretsch), already questioning his faith when the Visitors arrive, seeks answers outside his church and finds other dissidents who believe the Vs are not what they claim to be. The ABC series is billed as a reimagining of a 1980s miniseries by the same name.

... an abbreviated but furiously paced first season filled with conspiracies, rebels, traitors, family crisis and melodramatic complications, not to mention secret experiments on human subjects, furry creatures devoured, and lots of things blowing up. Unfortunately it fails to deliver. There seems to be way too much CGI on the ship which cheapens it, the scripts are unoriginal, the directing poor, overall this adds nothing and fails to exceed the original series in any way. The only highlight for me was Morena Baccarin playing Anna who does play a very good V leader. All other actors were meh. A massive opportunity missed. I watched through to the end this time, but do not feel I would have had any regrets if I had bailed again. The characters are all so dull and flat, none of the actors bring anything to their roles, and the aliens threat is very vague and convoluted.
