Italian actress Clara Calamai was one of her country's biggest stars in the late '30s and '40s. She is best remembered for her role in Visconti' Ossessione (1942), the film that started the Neorealist movement in Italian cinema. Calamai also frequently appeared in many films by Blasetti. Following WW II, Calamai's film career slowly diminished.
