Griffin McElroy was an American podcaster who was best known as the co-creator, along with his brothers Justin and Travis, of the hit comedy podcast "My Brother, My Brother and Me" (Maximum Fun, 2010- ). Born and raised in Huntington, West Virginia, McElroy and his brothers grew up loving radio. Their father was a local radio personality in their hometown, so Griffin dreamt of becoming a professional broadcast journalist. He got involved in the broadcast journalism program at his high school, which helped him learn the ins and outs of the trade. When it came time to enter college, McElroy enrolled in Marshall University, where he majored in broadcast journalism. While attending the university, McElroy also worked as a reporter for his college newspaper, as well as a political blogger for MTV, in which he covered the 2008 Presidential Election for his home state of West Virginia. Then in 2010 McElroy and his two brothers launched the comedy podcast "My Brother, My Brother and Me." The format of the show involved the three brothers answering random questions asked by listeners or found on the website Yahoo. The brothers would then give a humorous response to the question or questions that would sometimes last for several minutes. The podcast was an immediate hit and quickly earned a devoted following. Then in January of 2011 the podcast provider Maximum Fun started hosting the podcast on its platform, thus expanding its listenership seemingly overnight. With its popularity rising, "My Brother, My Brother and Me" eventually caught the attention of executives at a new NBC-owned streaming video platform called Seeso, who wanted to turn the podcast into a TV series. The first season of the television version of the podcast debuted on Seeso in February of 2017, with all six episodes being released on the same day. Griffin, Justin and Travis all starred on the series, which was filmed in their hometown of Huntington, West Virginia.
