Stephen Wallem was an American actor who was best known for playing Thor Lundgren on all seven seasons of Showtime's "Nurse Jackie" (2009-2015). Born and raised in the small town of Rockford, Illinois, Wallem always had a desire to perform. He moved to Chicago after high school, and quickly made a name for himself as one of the city's most beloved cabaret singers. Then in 2008, he received a call that would change his life. His sister, TV writer and producer Linda Wallem, was casting for a new show she had created about a New York City nurse whose battling a crippling addiction to pain killers. Linda wanted her brother to play the part of a male nurse named Thor Lundgren. Wallem flew to New York and auditioned for the role just like everyone else, only to learn a few days later that he got the part. "Nurse Jackie" was Wallem's first role on a TV show, but the cabaret-singer-turned-actor quickly proved effective on screen. Since the show was shot primarily in New York, Wallem also jumped head first into the city's landmark theater scene. When "Nurse Jackie" was on hiatus, Wallem traveled the country as part of the national touring companies of the hit musicals "Into the Woods" and "Scrooge." When "Nurse Jackie" ended its seven-season run in June of 2015, Wallem continued to appear in plays and musicals all across New York City.
