Actor/comedian Steve Mallory worked in front of the camera as a performer on various improv-driven series while also maintaining a second career as a content provider and new business consultant before making his feature screenwriting debut on the Melissa McCarthy comedy "The Boss" (2016). Born March 26, 1968 in Bremerton, Washington, Mallory studied improvisational comedy with the famed Groundlings troupe in Los Angeles before venturing into the entertainment industry as both a performer and producer. In the former capacity, he was a guest actor on numerous comedy series, including "Reno 911!" (Comedy Central, 2003-09), as well as a recurring player or series regular on the faux reality series "The Joe Schmo Show" (Spike TV, 2003) and the hidden camera show "BSTV" (VH1, 2005). While cultivating his acting career, Mallory also launched several media solutions and workshop companies, including Braintrust Media, which developed messaging campaigns for corporations, and InterAct Teamworks, which used his improv training to aid companies in team-building exercises. In 2007, Mallory joined Edelman Public Relations, for which he created online content and oversaw new business development before assuming the role of "Director of Ideation," which required him to provide innovation and spark creativity for his clients. In 2013, Mallory began collaborating with actor-comedian Melissa McCarthy and her husband, actor-director Ben Falcone, on several of their film projects. He appeared in minor roles in both "Identity Thief" (2013) and "Tammy" (2014) before teaming with Falcone to write "The Boss" (2016), a comedy with McCarthy as a thoughtless company owner who attempts to right the wrongs of her past after serving prison time for insider trading.
