  • British screenwriter Val Valentine's first film credit was 1929's Rocket Bus. Valentine's more notable assignments of the 1930s and 1940s included Hitchcock's Rich and Strange (1932) and the wartime morale-booster Waterloo Road (1941). He also scripted quite a few George Formby and Old Mother Riley comedies, as well as the first three St. Trinians farces of the 1950s. Thereafter, Val Valentine specialized in melodrama until his retirement in 1962.
