Biography:
My name's Cassidy Olsen, and I'm a journalist, film critic and recent Tufts University graduate writing from Cambridge, Massachusetts. During my time at Tufts, I was a student of Ty Burr, and he helped my passion for film and writing naturally develop into a more focused interest in film criticism. While I've been writing for student publications since the fall of 2016, I actually started to get my work published in the winter of 2018, beginning with the international film blog Much Ado About Cinema. Since starting with Much Ado, I've covered a number of festivals (including IFF Boston, NYFF, and Cannes) and become an editor for our first print edition. In January of 2019, I was officially hired as the head film critic at The Improper Bostonian, a bi-weekly lifestyle guide to the city of Boston. I publish three reviews per edition with the Improper, and continue to write and edit for Much Ado on the side. Outside of film writing, I'm also a staff writer at Reviewed, part of USA Today.

90% The Souvenir (2019) By carefully presenting the most transformative, difficult relationship of her youth via an oblique, matter-of-fact style, Hogg makes The Souvenir beautiful yet cold, more of an interesting psychological experiment than a successful narrative film. - Arts Fuse EDIT
