Andy Tennant demonstrates his natural instinct for the romantic comedy genre, crafting a script that gives both Gerard Butler and Jennifer Aniston plenty of room to shine in their roles. While the film may not reach the heights of the great big city-set action-comedies or romantic-action-comedies of the 20th century, Tennant still delivers an entertaining story that stands out among many films of the 2010s. It doesn’t rely on relentless comedy or high-octane action, but instead succeeds through its character dynamics, charm, and lighthearted storytelling. Overall, it’s an enjoyable watch and certainly worth revisiting every few years, especially if you appreciate Andy Tennant’s earlier films or are a fan of Gerard Butler or Jennifer Aniston.
