Movie Info

With her husband fighting in the Civil War, Marmee March (Dorothy McGuire) has her hands full raising four girls. Hot-tempered Jo (Susan Dey) dreams of being a writer, growing close to German intellectual Professor Bhaer (William Shatner). Her more temperate sister, Meg (Meredith Baxter Birney), defends younger sibling Amy (Ann Dusenberry) from Jo's fits of rage, while shy Beth (Eve Plumb) gets along well with everyone. The sisters grow up and get married, expanding their close-knit family.
