Movie Info

Mr. and Mrs. Fox live an idyllic home life with their son Ash and visiting young nephew Kristopherson. But after 12 years, the bucolic existence proves too much for Mr Fox's wild animal instincts. Soon he slips back into his old ways as a sneaky chicken thief and in doing so, endangers not only his beloved family, but the whole animal community. Trapped underground and with not enough food to go around, the animals band together to fight against the evil Farmers -- Boggis, Bunce and Bean -- who are determined to capture the audacious, fantastic Mr. Fox at any cost.

  • Visually, the movie is a wonder, with its profusion of detail and exquisitely focussed "performances" by the figurines, whom Anderson frames in images as precisely composed as those in his live-action work.

  • Sometimes too clever by half, the film, replete with in-jokes, may in some ways work better for adults. Meryl Streep, Bill Murray, and Jason Schwarztman also provide adept voice work.

  • The same eye for immaculate compositions that had seemed increasingly to hem in his human actors here serves as the basis for some of the most inventive animated set pieces this side of Nick Park.

  • Adds yet another wry, carefully composed bibelot to the cabinet of curios that defines the Anderson oeuvre.

Audience Reviews for Fantastic Mr. Fox

It's a fun film to watch with unrealistic adventures that only animations and cartoons can get away with. It's funny, dramatic and memorable. There couldn't have been a more fantastic portrayal of Mr. Fox than George Clooney, and the rest of the cast isn't bad either. Definitely one of the best if not the best stop motion animated movie. I feel like the strange humor that the fantastic Mr. Fox gives to the audience isn't the most family friendly but that makes it all more better for adults to understand and relate too. The films awkward pauses usually makes for funny scenes but after a while I got bored and it started to become annoying and lazy. Also the cuss scenes where funny for a while but because it constantly uses that same joke over and over again, the movie starts becoming annoying and it wears off.

Meticulously crafted and wonderfully witty, Fantastic Mr. Fox is both a smart caper for adults and a delightful treat for children - with animation that has yet to be topped within the world of stop motion.

Wasn't that keen on watching it but I caught it on TV over Christmas and got really into it, The choice of filming was different but it works, It's pretty funny and very well done and with a great voice cast it's worth watching.

Well it's no Charlie and Chocolate Factory or Matilda but it's still decent. I'd say it's closer in feel to James and the Giant Peach. It was a pleasant enough movie with interesting animation but the storyline wasn't all that appealing to me. Also, the majority of the humor was a little dry for my taste but it was still quirky fun.
