There was moments I asked "why?" with the main character but honestly, his seeming insanity makes sense. Being stuck in total isolation, your family and friends dead, and seeing carnage nonstop would take a major toll on the mind. It is both a psychological horror, body horror, and zombie horror. You don't often get to see how a situation like this would affect the mental health and sanity of someone, most of the time it is just explosions and gore which I love too don't get me wrong, but the silence, the silent zombies, and the beautiful music it is an absolute artistic masterpiece. Most people give this movie a bad review because it wasn't action packed enough for them (even though it had plenty of action and suspence), that wasn't the intention of the movie. It was to show the sheer mental deterioration such a scenario would have and the metaphors of going through depression and loss, the symbolism is palpable. See more Thomas J @RT95709530 Mar 29 Ugh. We just kept asking "why?" while watching this. If you want a slow paced story about a guy who isn’t that bright surviving in an apartment when the zombie apocalypse happens, this is your movie. If you want anything interesting to happen, then look elsewhere. The most interesting part turns out to be a dream sequence. And the ending just leaves questions. See more Tatom S @RT11766477 Mar 11 The Night Eats the World is honestly one of the worst zombie movies I’ve ever watched. The main character is incredibly annoying and hard to root for. He spends most of the movie making dumb decisions and generally being obnoxious, which makes it frustrating since the entire film revolves around him. It’s hard to believe someone like him could realistically survive as long as he does. The movie is also painfully slow. Huge portions of it are just him wandering around his apartment building doing very little, and it quickly becomes boring rather than tense. On top of that, the story has several plot holes and things that just don’t make much sense. Overall, the film tries to be atmospheric and different, but it ends up feeling empty and dragged out. Between the unlikeable main character, the slow pacing, and the weak writing, it’s a really disappointing entry in the zombie genre and you have got to be braindead yourself to enjoy this garbage.
