It's always nice when a movie with little to no buzz sneaks up on you like this one did for me.
A Crooked Somebody is smarter than the usual thriller.
Sommer, who did fine supporting work on TV's "Mad Men," doesn't prove a distinctive or charismatic enough presence to carry an entire film, especially one as uneven as this.
Often uncomfortable and all the better for it, "A Crooked Somebody" doesn't mind watching its characters squirm a little. That's tough for them but good for us in this highly enjoyable thriller.
A satisfyingly crafted entertainment that doesn't try to reinvent the wheel, but does take a few surprising detours from well-trodden genre paths
While poking fun at a broad target, this thriller maintains a moderate level of suspense before falling apart in the convoluted final act.
A captivating, wickedly funny and provocative satire with a breakthrough performance by Rich Sommer.
Features excellent performances and a plot firmly rooted in relationships rather than stunts.
A resonant character study depicting the myriad ways we take advantage of others.
Sharp performances make this knotty thriller about a psychic who has to lie to his life sing.
