What to Know

Critics Consensus

Aiming high in ambition but scoring low in execution, In the Blink of an Eye is a sprawling meditation on the human condition that turns up few compelling revelations.

Director Andrew Stanton weaves together three different stories across three different eras of human history. The result is a streaming epic as painfully sappy as it is structurally ambitious. Go to Full Review

Stanton’s long-delayed film is looking to capture the fragile wonder of life, but it can be po-faced, lacking detail and occasionally daft. Go to Full Review

“In the Blink of an Eye” proves yet again that Stanton is a dreamer, with an unshakeable faith in humanity. That’s not nothing. Go to Full Review

What tries to be a live-action version of Godfrey Reggio’s Koyaanisqatsi, Powaqqatsi and Naqoyqatsi [...] ultimately ends up being a complete nothingburger that has nothing of interest to say, thematically, narratively, and aesthetically. Go to Full Review

jamie L @RT97862983 1d Slow and boring. I wasted quite a bit of time trudging through this one. Very woke with its all-inclusive message. I'm kind of tired of Hollywood telling us what we should think See more Terry T @RT00307920 1d I think this is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. It's uplifting and gives hope. I find it unbelievable that the professional critics will tear this down. The acting is great in the filming is fantastic. In a period of so much evil and hate this was a pleasure. See more steveba50 T @RT23082800 3d A wonderful thought provoking movie. So much CGI drivel that these movie journalists with vested interests give great reviews to these days. Very little content worth my time to watch as studios just keep repeating the standard jello brain formulas. A wonderful story that captures the viewer completely and deserves the highest recognition. If you are a thinking person ( about life and our place in it ) then this is perfect for you. Will watch again soon. Kudos to the team that put this film together. See more Courtney L. @RT82534812 4d I was completely invested in all three stories throughout and while it felt complete, I wish there were more. See more Stargazer T @Stargazer-AMD 4d The film reached into something ancient and human, reminding me that life and legacy are the quiet threads that bind our species across time. It showed the beauty and necessity of feeling both the pain and the love that shape us. I truly enjoyed the experience. I found myself moved by its ambition and the emotional truth pulsing beneath it. Still, I longed for deeper intimacy with the characters. Their lives brushed past mine like silhouettes in passing—beautiful, evocative, but just out of reach. I wanted more time with them, more space to feel the weight of their choices. Yet maybe that distance was intentional. Life rarely pauses long enough for us to fully understand the people who change us. Sometimes we only catch glimpses—fleeting, unfinished, unforgettable. Watching it felt like witnessing the way we learn, grow, and become who we are… all in the blink of an eye. See more P M @RT65861789 5d Excellent movie! I'm not a sophisticated Oscar watching movie goer, I just like a good film. This movie was unlike anything that I've seen before. It intertwined 3 time periods to come up with a good watch that also made you think at the end. And it was only an hour and a half. Recommended! See more Read all reviews
