With the imminent destruction of Krypton, their home planet, Jor-El (Russell Crowe) and his wife seek to preserve their race by sending their infant son to Earth. The film’s first half feels like a highlight reel of set pieces from Clark’s youth...and the second...is a relentless barrage of...oversized action that doesn’t even look good, with about 20 minutes of plot stuck in the middle.

Snyder takes care to preserve the core of nobility, humility and goodness that have made Superman so beloved all over the world for three quarters of a century (and counting), making for a film that's exhilarating, emotional, and even beautiful.

Man of Steel is the movie equivalent of the room at the end of 2001: a space odyssey: everything feels right until it doesn't. Snyder scratches the surface of these characters but never really understand them. While being the best looking superman to date, this is not your friendly hero but rather a god that levels entire cities without a single care for human life. Everything is spectacular for the sake of being spectacular. Everything is dark for the sake of being dark, and different just for the sake of not being comic accurate superman. Snyder's love for kitsch and baroque's aesthetics simply translates in a redundant bomb of bad-placed slo-mo and casual zoom-ins, in a world that's either blue, grey or some shallow shade of both. The story is all over the place, despite Zod and Jor El are probably the best rendition of the characters on screen. Overall a movie that's fun to watch if you don't like or care about Superman, good writing or you're a fan of TikTok Edits.

Simplesmente o Superman que marcou minha adolescência. Embora Snyder tenha fugido um pouco do conceito do personagem, ainda assim é uma obra bem construída e o estilo lembra bastante os Novos 52. Ótimo filme!
