Director J.J. Abrams does a nice job making Cruise look heroic...without making it look like a fashion shoot -although, there are times when it's tough to tell- and he even has enough confidence to offer some quiet moments to push some emotional content.

My favorite Mission Impossible movie, and one of my favorite action movies ever. Better than the later MI films. That scene with the time release detonator was so haunting. RIP Phillip Seymour.

I remember liking Mission: Impossible III more than I did this time. I think a lot of that comes down to the last 30 minutes. I didn’t love where they took the story or some of the twists—it just didn’t really work for me. That said, there’s still a lot to like here. The bridge scene is one of my favorite action sequences in the entire franchise, and everything at the Vatican is a standout. And Philip Seymour Hoffman delivers what’s probably the best villain performance in the series.

This movie is a great continuation of Ethan Hunt's story in a way that's new and exciting. Firstly, Tom Cruise is still awesome in this movie. Phillip Seymour Hoffman is probably the best villain in this series so far. The plot is a definite upgrade from what Mission: Impossible 2 had to offer. Not as complex or convoluted as the first, but more involved and tense than number two. But what we really come to these movies for is the action sequences. I'm pleased to say that this movie does not disappoint as far as action goes. There was definitely more gun violence in this one which can be seen as a positive or a negative depending on your beliefs, but I rather enjoyed those scenes. I do believe that the action is a slight downgrade from the second movie, but that's not to say the action in this movie is bad, it just means that in my opinion the hand-to-hand combat was so good at the end of the second movie that it outweighs most of the action in this movie. Overall, definitely worth it.
