There's a certain charm to this movie that I find irresistible. I've seen it multiple times and each screening gives me pleasure. Sally Field is super as the independent, divorced mother trying to start new life in a small town. James Garner is perfectly cast and we should all be thankful the studio backed down from its demand to have the role played by Marlon Brando.

This fall-spring relationship may be a little bit difficult to understand but James Garner ends up being charming enough to win over Sally Field. One suspects this is due to a lack of options. Very sweet rather than creepy.

I think the best thing about this movie was Corey Haim.He seemed to have so much potential.I remember him being on the cover of all the teen magazines when I was a little kid.Maybe if some director took another chance on him, He could've had a break out role & things would've been different today.Who knows? 2 & a 1/2 stars just for Corey

Very good movie :) A nice movie to watch on a rainy day when there's nothing else to do. Gardner & Field were great in this movie :)
