Movie Info

Extremist attitudes are on the rise throughout the Western world. In a bid to understand why, broadcaster Alice Levine is spending a week living with British nationalist Jack Sen, his wife of Ukrainian heritage, their young daughter, and Jack's mother - whose hero is Donald Trump. As a liberal who embraces diversity and tolerance, Alice aims to understand why Jack holds the views he does and attempts to dig deeper into what leads people to fanaticism. Jack, a nationalist activist who uses the internet to spread his message, stood for election as a UKIP MP, but was expelled from the party for sending tweets considered anti-Semitic to Labour MP Luciana Berger. He later aligned with the far right BNP but was suspended. Having left mainstream politics, Jack now works from home promoting his right wing causes online. Alice is introduced to Jack's online community, including former leader of the Ku Klux Klan David Duke, and Tim Scott, a former British Army soldier who promotes far right causes and support's Jack's views that the working class white man is oppressed in the UK. Despite finding Jack's views offensive, Alice attempts to listen and understand. But her patience wears extremely thin when he invites her to join his call with former BNP leader Nick Griffin, who is a regular guest on Jack's online radio show. And their relationship deteriorates even further when Alice learns more about Jack's Indian heritage.
