So STEVE JOBS is more of an actor's movie in which the performances outweigh every other area of the film. Which isn't a negative, but is what it is. Take that for what it's worth.

I know exactly who Steve Jobs, Apple CEO, is. Steve Jobs feels a revelation because it exposes Steve Jobs, the man.

The Jobs here will always be "Aaron Sorkin's Jobs"... who people say was nerdier and more youthfully exuberant than the fully in-control maestro depicted in the film. But Fassbender does a great job with what he's given.

A reminder of Sorkin's true gifts as a dramatist; it also boasts a crackerjack ensemble cast, subtle yet substantial direction by Boyle, and a welcome explosion of exceedingly tedious biopic tropes.

Fassbender, in a superb performance, portrays [Jobs] as a genius -- but also as a painfully flawed human being.

Boyle does something surprising with Sorkin's endless cascades of dialogue: He turns them into music.

Oct 03, 2017Interesting take to concentrate on the last minutes and conversations Jobs had before his three biggest launch presentations in 84, 88 and 98. It helps to have some basic knowledge of his career and products at the time, because there is not much explaining offered here. Of course a film relying entirely on characters talking has to have a killer script, and it does. The writing is fantastic, and the acting just as exceptional. That makes for a so much more entertaining film than expected, albeit a limited one in his portrayal of the controversial figure. There are plenty of reasons to assume many of those conversations actually happened, but can we assume we know the full picture? Still, very powerful and rewarding.Jens S Super Reviewer

Sep 27, 2016Michael Fassbender offers a remarkable performance in this rapid and complex biopic. Steve Jobs' fascinating direction and perplexing narrative conjures up a solid perspective on a visionary figure and path. 4/5Eugene B Super Reviewer

Jul 06, 2016While it rightly deserves to be praised for the performance Michael Fassbender (most notably) and company put in over the course of two hours on screen, a few faults lie within the one note it seems to continuously strike through the three 'chapters' we get to see the tech giant live his life. We essentially get a look-in at how Steve Jobs morphed from 1984 to 1988 to 1998, and while Fassbender executes subtle differences in each year, it mostly feels like the same repeat scene three different times. With Aaron Sorkin at the helm of the writers' table, we get some solid, witty and biting dialogue delivered by the acting crew with some wit and pizzazz. But, to fault Sorkin a little, there is a lot of talking. A lot of it. What's great about a film like this is we get to see the abstract, yet monstrous genius of a man who only knew black or white. What's unfortunate about a movie like this is it plays out like a biography to try and make us feel a certain way about a man instead of honing in on some of the incredible social accomplishments that were created from it.Lane Z Super Reviewer
