Yes, this is one of the greats -- and by greats, I mean so unspeakably awful that it needs to be witnessed at least once in a lifetime.

Creative Loafing

[Blu-ray Review] While "Frogs" is far superior to "The Food of the Gods," genre enthusiasts for an appetite in films where nature strikes back should especially be all over this release. Recommended.

A flagrant disregard for animals' rights—all for the purposes of a schlocky B-movie—gives "The Food of the Gods" a nasty, unclean stench that steals away whatever fun there is to be had.

Audience Reviews for The Food of the Gods

A interesting premise that doesn't translate onto film well. The story isn't too good, the characters are forgettable, and the effects are shabby. It's rather bleak, dull, and rather hard to watch.

I think I saw this a few years back and it's that good type of bad. Probably one of the best sci-fi big animal movies of the 1970s.

Quite possibly one of the worst films I've ever seen, of any genre. Not even in a 'so bad it's good' way. It's just bad. Just another entry in a series of Jaws echos.
