Critic Reviews for The Kill Team
Krauss's documentary is both solid and scathing, raising more questions that it answers.
It all adds up to a harrowing picture of the casualties of war - and the unchecked madness that may drive those entrusted to defend us.
A military platoon bent on murdering Afghan civilians for pleasure is the target of this chillingly frank documentary.
The scope of the film can be frustratingly narrow. But even this limited view into the events of the Maywand District murders is gripping cinema.
Audience Reviews for The Kill Team
They're called the Maywand District murders. In 2010 a group American soldiers went through Afghanistan villages deliberately targeting civilians. This disturbing documentary examines how killing (stories of killings, trophies from killing,& photos of killing) becomes a morbid form of commerce during warfare.
The Kill Team is a frustrating and disturbing film about the "truth" that we're being told about our war on terror. As we watch cover up after cover up unfold in this film, you begin to wonder how much of this film you can trust. I think that's what The Kill Team does best is there is an air of paranoia and heartbreak that both permeate the film. Paranoia about what could happen and heartbreak over what did. It doesn't instill much trust in our armed forces, but it does instill sympathy.
A documentary of out-of-control murder of civilians by an Army platoon in Afghanistan and consequences.
