Moon K Oct 29 Four stars for being entertaining. Glad they chose this topic and region. Great tie in with the real and exciting excavations in Egypt and glad to see a handful of historians who storytell as well. The brown make-up and black hairdye on the white man who played a Persian king was silly. It reminded me of films that drew slanty eyes on people to "make" them Chinese in the 1950s. Please, please, please next time just hire folks from the region -- or with the ancestry and natural coloring. See more Nick K Oct 1 It seems by the comments here a lot of people have half-watched this series and excitedly leapt at the opportunity to virtue signal on their own historical expertise. Congratulations, but you've sort of missed the point - it's a NETFLIX dramatisation. Yes, there are some experts called in to interject occasionally with a bit of context, but ultimately it is an attempt to capture the general slant of Alexander's rise rather than check every single factual box on a story that took place 2300 years ago. I thought it was fine - the performances were generally good and visually it was well put together. I wasn't a massive fan of the Oracle and some of the expert content was a bit jarring when you'd settled into the drama of it, but overall I felt it was ambitious and came close enough to achieving its goals to be eminently watchable, especially for non-experts such as myself. See more Sayyed Navid E Jul 25 Any average Youtube Podcast on Alexander is way better than this ridiculous show. They spend tons of money to make a show about one of the most important military achievements and this is the result?!!!! All the Alexander movies and shows I have watched were horrible. The Youtube podcasts are much more accurate and even more entertaining. Such shows only aim at melodrama and I do not like melodrama. I like accurate descriptions. The acting was horrible too (no wonder with such as a mushy script). The Youtube animated characters of Alexander are more charismatic (I really believe so). The only plus to the show was that they did not portrary Darius as some sort of a barbarian, like the 2004 movie did. I am thirsty for accurate historical shows and they give me this!!! A huge disappointment See more Carly F Mar 19 I really enjoy these docu dramas, history and good costume/drama, what's not to like? If you like swords and sandals, and history you'll be happy See more Ernie D 01/12/2025 A strong mix of dramatic re-enactment, historical commentary with weighted words, and character development. The production offers a refreshing storyline that illustrates the good, the bad, and a modern take on Alexander. Recommend a watch for those interested in a mini series take on antiquity. See more Michael W @mawilps 09/19/2024 This docudrama series was alright. The cast and crew did a decent job on making this series about Alexander the Great. It was kind of dramatic and interesting to see how Alexander became the legend he is known as today. If you haven't seen this series yet, you might not enjoy it. It wasn't as great as I thought it would be. See more Read all reviews
