Sleepily good-looking white guys have won the last four seasons of [American Idol]... And so it is a commendation to the near-military professionalism of Idol that somehow, for the last half-hour or so, I was riveted to the screen.
In the end, a humble pawn shop worker pursuing his dream was a more appealing narrative for more people than a technically brilliant singer who'd been prepping for stardom since she was 4 or 5 years old.
It took them six tries, but they've finally cast the White Boy With Guitar role perfectly. I'm rooting for you, Phillip Phillips.
This 11th season of American Idol has been unusually stupefying.
Although the editors added stupid sound effects, the show oddly played everything straight.
[The finale] was brisk and satisfying unlike the filler laden episodes that weighed down the rest of the season.
I'm not going to pretend all was perfect in Idol world, but at the very least it was far and away the strongest finale since Kris Allen vs. Adam Lambert.
[American Idol Season 11 finale] was a weird and occasionally wonderful smorgasbord.
Audience Reviews for American Idol: Season 11
Jun 16, 2017The Good: Top to bottom one of the strongest groups the show had ever seen. Numerous standout performances from the top 7 or 8. Probably the best winning song in Idol history. The Bad: Phillip Phillips win became an inevitablilty around the top 5, leaving the rest of the season to be a bit of a drag.
Jan 07, 2016Use to be a fan, bit the producers are giving the lime light to the judges. ... ugh
