Although a few narrative detours upend anticipated storylines and brawls, this Avatar still knows how to entertain and be serviceably capable of saving the world.

It steals the faces of the animated series, impersonating them in an attempt to manipulate you into feeling some of the emotion you did upon first beholding them. Go to Full Review

It’s entertaining, propulsive and a rich universe mined from source material that is some of television’s best and most creative. If you can forgive its flaws, it’s a decent summer binge. Go to Full Review

It is not a terrible season of television! Now, is it great? No, it's still a mixed bag, but episodes four through seven are still better than anything in season one. Go to Full Review

It's in the addition and removal of various scenes from the original where this version of Avatar excels and falters at the same time. Go to Full Review

So many great characters, with intricate and deep storylines. It might be geared more towards a young audience, but it’s a high-quality production with something for everyone to enjoy. Go to Full Review

The live-action series has made some much-needed improvements, but it is still held back by the burden of condensing Book Two’s sprawling animated narrative into seven roughly hour-long episodes and by the visible aging of its youngest cast members. Go to Full Review

Jenny C @RT57880012356 22h It was pretty fun. One of my main issues is that I'm not a huge fan of hour-long episodes. See more Ellen D @RT72515098 1d Hardcore fans of the original series may take issue with events being missed or rearranged, or certain characters being re-interpreted, but if you approach this series as a complement to rather than a recreation of the original, you’ll find there is a lot to love about it. While the first two episodes of the season are uneven in pacing and feature some awkward dialogue, the season starts to pick up steam in episode three and finishes really strong with a great arc of episodes four to seven. Key lore is added to the series; characters arcs that happened offscreen in the original are given full exploration; and relationships between core characters are explored even more fully than the were in the original. The more serious tone also allows for some heartbreaking depictions of the complicated path of healing for those who try to make amends for past harmful actions. I give the first two episodes a B, the third episode a B+, episodes four through six an A-/A, and episode seven an A+. See more Alex M @RT98330200 1d i’m sorry, but this is just as disappointing as the first season. I’m leaving this review and giving it half a star mainly as a tribute to the animated series, which I loved as a child and still remember warmly. This adaptation strips away nearly everything that made the original special. In my view, it shows no respect for the source material at all. The creators managed to ruin almost everything that could be ruined, from the characters and their motivations to the tone, drama, visuals, and sense of magic. For me, this adaptation fails completely, and I feel that half a star is more than justified. See more Javier V @RT79929567 2d It is a really good adaptation as fan of the animated series, it make me remember it, and even better as a live action the senses in the screens transmit better. Effects, are great, acting really good. Zuko character for me has been the best one. The others do it great also. See more D G @RT90414835 2d Still some rough edges, and becoming more of its own interpretation, there's a lot improved and it is an enjoyable second season. Just don't expect it to be a live action cartoon, see it as a new interpretation of the same overall story and enjoy the ride. See more Jason M @laserbeams 2d It’s a good streamlined version of the animation. The special effects are overall well done especially for a series. The actors do well at capturing the spirit of the animation. Excited for the remaining seasons. See more Read all reviews
