Cupid: Season 1 (2009)

TOMATOMETER

Critic Consensus: An uneventful retread of the original failed series, Cupid forces a few heart-tugs but is generically plotted and simply uninteresting.

Critic Reviews for Cupid Season 1

All Critics (21) | Top Critics (14)

It's fun and diverting, and certainly has the potential to be much more, based on Thomas' work on the original series -- and the glimpses we see of Cannavale and Paulson in these roles.

After the first 15 minutes, you'll be able to see exactly where the episode is heading and which character will learn which lessons about love.

Feb 18, 2014 | Full Review…

You might wonder why the network would bring back a show that wasn't all that good and didn't do all that well in the first place.

Feb 13, 2014 | Full Review…

But once you come around to the idea that this is quite not the same "Cupid," the new show nevertheless manages to knock a few flakes of coal off of the shell surrounding your cold, black heart.

Jun 14, 2018 | Full Review…

Cupid could easily be heartbroken again.

Feb 18, 2014 | Rating: 2.5/5 | Full Review…

If you didn't like Cupid in its first incarnation and you weren't predisposed to like it now for a litany of behind-the-scenes reasons, ABC's new Cupid is instantly forgettable and disposable

Feb 18, 2014 | Full Review…

Cupid seems a bit watered down but there is definitely something sweet about the show that could charm viewers, especially those of us who will be missing the charming but cancelled Pushing Daisies quite a bit come next year.

Feb 18, 2014 | Rating: 3/5 | Full Review…

Paulson's an appealing actress, but she's stranded in a clichéd character in a show that offers the worst of both worlds.

Feb 13, 2014 | Rating: 2/4 | Full Review…

Cupid remains a rather wispy premise.

It wouldn't do to give up on Cupid after only one episode... The pilot [is] well-paced and breezy.
