Doom Patrol is a team of traumatized and downtrodden superheroes, each of whom has suffered a horrible accident that gave them superhuman abilities but also left them scarred and disfigured. The members of the team have found their purpose through The Chief and have come together to investigate some of the world's weirdest phenomena. After The Chief mysteriously disappears, though, the reluctant heroes find themselves called to action by Cyborg, who comes to them with a mission that they cannot refuse. Doom Patrol -- part support group, part superhero team -- is a band of superpowered freaks fighting for a world that wants nothing to do with them.

The show seems to be trying to recapture the magic Morrison brought to these characters... you don't just want someone to adapt Grant Morrison. You want someone to be Grant Morrison, to do to superhero television what Morrison was did to superhero comic. Go to Full Review

Coupled with the synthesization of Bomer and Zuk's performances - each with their own strengths and gravity - Doom Patrol breathes new life in a genre that in recent years has felt calcified. Go to Full Review

The series is refreshingly self-aware, both in the hilarious meta narration by Alan Tudyk... and in its more fundamental understanding that if you make a show about these characters, you'd best come weird or not come at all. Go to Full Review

I was more excited about the first 10 and, you know, it's been a slow start for me to even kind of build up to the show in terms of me liking it. And so once I was invested, I was invested and then I just felt like 11- 15 were very much a downer for me. Go to Full Review

The show has a premise and story arcs that are unlike anything I've seen before. It's outrageously unpredictable, totally off the wall and insane. But it works. Go to Full Review

Doom Patrol is a super fun surprise! An ensemble show that really works and is a must see for fans of the comics, and those that know nothing about them. Go to Full Review

Calvin O @Caltus Nov 7 Season I was interesting and fun and then season 2 introduced the daughter and it just became childish and annoying. Now season 3 starts with the daughter character again and a bunch of storylines that are just too weird. Destroyed the show: ( See more prawnda s Aug 26 yet another IP fumbled by warner bros. i want so badly to love this, but crazy jane's character is obscenely overdone. you would be hard pressed to find a mental patient that acts like she does with such consistency, and it's not her performance, it's the writing and direction. we get it, she's traumatized and she acts out/dissociates. it's just beating a dead horse within a couple of episodes, and not at all like how the other characters take a while to deal with their issues. i did not finish this show or this season despite multiple serious attempts and plenty of free time, because apparently every season of the show operates on the same formula due to narrative reliance on jane's more overpowered personalities. she hogs far too much of the runtime, essentially every review ive read mentions that she is annoying, if not that she is unlikeable, unrelatable, an unrealistic/stigmatized portrayal of a mentally ill person, and that her excessive presence singlehandedly ruins the show. there are so many neglected or underdeveloped characters in this project, portrayed by well liked and talented cast members, and instead of them getting a real fleshed out sequence we focus almost exclusively on this girl, episode after episode. the actress deserves better than this, since she's shown us a pretty solid dynamic range, but its impossible to appreciate the performance when the director does nothing but heap on more screaming, abuse, and misbehavior. these moments where a character acts out have to feel earned no matter what the context is. instead we end up with a show that alienates the demographics it's supposed to appeal to, while catering to the type of people who would bully them. some people said jane is only a problem because "hammerhead" is in charge of her too often, but every single personality is insufferable. there is no likeable, sympathetic person in there, at least not that the director or writers allow to the surface. the cast could do amazing with the right person in charge, but this show is only a disappointment as it stands. See more Faiz D May 14 What an effin' brilliant show. See more hypmic May 12 With a creative, funny, and ironic concept, Doom Patrol's first season was literally the best thing that could happened! Its main villain is the best, as it combines the madness of the protagonists and takes it to another level; each one with their motives and their stories are able to attract the public. It is definitely something I would recommend watching. See more AARNAV V Mar 6 This season is a really great start to this show See more David W @Sternhammer Mar 4 By turns touching, exciting and intreguing but always defiantly weird. Its a show, much like Morrisons run as writer on the graphic novels, that you will either vibe with or not but if you are in the lucky group who gets this then from its universally well written scripts to it's excellent cast this is an absolute treat of an adaptation. It's unique vision and imagination is so far only equalled by the sheer excellence of its execution. Truly superb. More please. See more Read all reviews
