This Netflix original series follows college football teams that aren't major programs and don't get much national attention. After a couple seasons of profiling recruits at East Mississippi Community College, which has won several NJCAA national titles, the reality series shifts its focus to Independence Community College. The Kansas school doesn't have the same type of gridiron pedigree as EMCC -- it's trying to rebound from more than a decade of losses -- but the players are dealing with many of the same challenges that the EMCC squad faced -- both on and off the field.

I may be wrong, but I feel like the on-field audio this season is a big improvement on past seasons - especially the insight it gives us into Rejzohn, the trash-talking cornerback who's supposed to be the team's star player. Go to Full Review

While you'll never get completely candid, unguarded conversations from people wearing a mic, those group back-and-forths are the kind of patient observation that "Last Chance U" has excelled at over the past half-decade. Go to Full Review

The change in tone and topics for Season 5 shift appropriately to accommodate the new setting and a new personality of the show. It's a great credit to creator Greg Whiteley for the creative decisions to change things up. Go to Full Review

Last Chance U is a refreshing look at football without all the glossy marketing, an extraordinarily dangerous sport that brings people together, but often at a steep personal cost. Go to Full Review

The fifth and final season for football provides a respectable outing but a new sport is needed to liven up the format. Go to Full Review

08/10/2020 A refreshing change of scenery in terms of region. The coach is much more likable but the season outcome wasn't as rewarding for the person watching. There is definitely way too much emphasis on anti-gentrification of Oakland. Wahh your city is getting nicer and therefore is more expensive to live there. Wahh you have less crime. Get over it and stop blaming white people for being opportunistic. There were 100% some weird characters and I wonder how much of it was over emphasized. I think after watching 5 seasons of this show the main take away I would like to change is the coach and team outlook on injuries. Yikes, seems like documenting concussions, knee injuries, etc. and coaches essentially calling the kids pussies or denying them recommendations for other colleges is just wrong and will result in lawsuits.
