I'm not sure why this is called "Reality" TV when it feels much more like a poorly acted Mocumentary of business savvy people setting up a marketing scheme to promote a book and (I assume) a sale or public offering of stock in the company. The lead, Julia, feels like as much of a secular fundamentalist as the religious fundamentalism she left & hates. While money could buy her a lot of things, I don't think it's bought her "Seykhel" (wisdom-based smarts) and assume that in twenty years, there will be some serious disappointment. They feel like a caricature of some of the worst of American secular culture.

I'm almost halfway into this series, and I'm captivated. At first it was hard to believe that it wasn't scripted with actors. These are real people, whose stories are captivating. Who leaves an Orthodox Jewish "fundamentalist" community to become the head of the top fashion modeling agency in the world??

This programme highlights Julia's need to control. In the guise of helping others liberate themselves, she is actually forcing her views on those around her… Controlling mother/religion may have been what she hoped to escape, but she is doing exactly the same to those around her.

Watch one episode and you'll know why this show is terrible. The only genuine moments are the scenes about Robert's adoption story line and the few scenes with Julia's ex-husband, who appears to be a thoughtful, good guy. However, for one issue, I would give it five stars...For the rest of my life, when my daughter blurts out, "you're the most embarrassing mother in the world!", I can reply, "two words--Julia Haart."

Bold, honest and empowering for women

Giving a teenager you just met a vibrator in your office in front of employees? She should be sued for sexual harassment

Terrible, stupid show. Not true. Should be cancelled.

Keyword: inchoate (adj) -not fully formed; undeveloped Her worship at the altar of narcissistic nihilism is old & should not be emulated. She seems to forget major issues on the globe while she happily pollutes and shows off in a yacht lifestyle. Yawn! Her husband surely knows. She should follow his advice about protecting the natural areas he communes with that are vanishing. Be a leader in an ecological fashion industry. I do not recommend her blatant self-aggrandizement. She's often indifferent, emotional & ridiculous. And, I ask Ms Haart, I planted 1000s of seedlings per day with the daughter of a billionaire. She was in the clear-cuts of the hinterland to prove the wealthy do care about our planet. Teach your children to do what is right and be proactive about doing good. Instead, Ms Haart simply lives in a Manhattan-Hamptons bubble with blinders on. I personally have known people that have lived a larger life than you and can buy you 10 times over and do not need to play the false victim and self-aggrandizement of the past. It's an old paradigm, Ms Haart. Get over it. I am happy she did not commit suicide because she's a gorgeous lady with health and no one should ever do this but it's just a weak character that resulted in her leaving the Orthodox faith she was born into without changing it from within. Curiously, she keeps referencing Judaism but really should not. I have learnt good lessons from practicing members of her faith. I admire her for having the strength to leave but please focus on secular, humane and ecological matters on this planet. In fact, the entire fashion industry owes a huge debt to Mother Nature and has to be healthier to show an example of ecological, creative brilliance to our world. They're definitely brilliant as the late Versace demonstrated and was way above and before her. I believe in brutal honesty like you Ms Haart. You are better than this. Question: My Unorthodox Life review - is it interesting enough for 9 episodes? Answer: No way! She's obtuse and inchoate. She does deserve a tiny nod for the courage to unplug from another form of archaic indoctrination.

Many of the negative reviews resemble the attitude of the ultra-Orthodox. Your critics should be reliable and not dented like the wisenheimers on social media. Episode 2 a vast improvement over episode 1 since it presents what it is that the woman ran away from.

An inspiring, fresh and fun new show! I am in awe of Julia Haart's sheer willpower and determination to create a new life for herself and her family... and boy does she do it in style! I also love that it shows all types of Jews. Yes, Orthodox, but also other sects.
